Introduce or sponsor legislation to:
Increase funding to promote better student-to-teacher ratios, teacher retention, and appropriate physical spaces for learning.
Increase parental involvement in the classroom.
Provide parents with paid leave (10 hours per year per child) to participate in parent/teacher conferences and be involved in school activities.
Provide teachers with additional paid time and tools to manage communication with parents.
Provide technical assistance so each school district has a smart phone app that helps parents receive school information and track their children's educational needs.
Provide statewide resources for parent volunteers. This would include job descriptions and training materials for roles such as subject matter experts, career models, and mentors for extracurricular activities.
Increase the emphasis on life skills (communication, research, teamwork, leadership, organization, scientific thinking) and career exploration.
